The 9th annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival will present a free outdoor reading on Saturday, August 24 at 2:00 PM featuring young writers (6-18 year olds) reading alongside faculty writers from the newly formed The Writers Foundry at St. Joseph’s College and other up-and-coming Brooklyn-based poets.

The Grand Central Oyster Bar hosts the 33nd Annual Holland Herring Festival with Opening Ceremonies and Official First Tasting of “nieuwe maatjes” herring from Holland on June 19 at noon. Hosted by executive chef Sandy Ingber and general manager Kevin Farekin. Award-winning author Roy Finamore will participate in the ceremonies with other dignitaries and special guests. Delayed from the originally scheduled date of June 5.
